New York, NY – Last September, MBK Sports client Nate Hairston was named an honorary board member of the Boys & Girls Club of Frederick County Maryland. Since then, he’s been instrumental in raising money for an organization that serves as a safe haven for so many young kids in the region.
Hairston, a Frederick native, personally knows the impact that Boys & Girls Club of Frederick County Maryland has on the futures of young people. So, when the 2017 football season concluded, he sprung into action, using his position with the Club and his newfound NFL notoriety to help raise funds for an organization that has meant so much to his family.
“At the end of the day, I wanted to help out Suzanne Blair (BGCFC Director of Operations) and this Club because it has done so much for my family and community over the years,” said Hairston. “When I found out I had the opportunity to give back, I didn’t hesitate because I knew firsthand that this money would ensure that the kids continue to have a safe place to learn, grow and have fun.”
Between his own personal contribution and the donation of football items for a silent auction, Hairston has helped generate several thousand dollars for BGCFC, money that will help provide backing for the next generation of children in the region.
"Nate's contributions to our organization support the true cost of one child attending our Club for one year,” added BGCFC Executive Director Lisa A. McDonald. “With Nate's support, we’re able to impact more children. No family is ever turned away for the inability to pay."
A fifth-round draft choice out of Temple, Hairston exceeded most forecasts in his first season with the Indianapolis Colts in 2017. He won the starting nickel cornerback job in training camp and went on to make 35 tackles, a pair of sacks and his first career interception versus the Tennessee Titans. Entering his second season, Hairston is emerging as one of the mainstays of a new-look defense intent on creating more turnovers.
